How Design: 13 Fresh Ideas That Matter

This article got me at at the very beginning “What to Read in the Rain”. What a lovely title.

I believe that design could change the world and help people. The people has got to be the focus always. There is a certain ethical question that the designers have to answer to in their practice. Some designers have courage and the strength to follow what matters. For example, the people at IDEO.org. The project featured in the article Spreading Human-Centered Design is very ambitious. Good graphic design is not often for low-income population.

The Comics for Change is a fun project that could be shared with students thinking about creating art for social change. There is a real regional and traditional feel to this project, which is also rare. I personally think that the country is so young and have so much potential that we need more projects like this to bring people together. Also, keep Portland weird. I saw that sign on the street downtown Portland near the famous Voodoo Donuts store when I was there. Amazing fillings.
