Judy Chicago Art Teaching Archive

Penn State’s library houses the Judy Chicago Art Education Collection and runs a robust website to go with it. I found the Participatory Art Pedagogy section particularly interesting. It defines “participatory” this way:

The term participatory used to describe the teaching methodology is rooted in democratic practices that provide a space for each to speak and a community support structure in which different views are encouraged to be expressed and argued without retaliation from the group.


Take a few minutes to browse through the site. It has interesting ideas and a detailed breakdown of a particular teaching methodology.
